Re, phrenology and face reading are different things - phrenology has nothing to do with specific facial features but a lot to do with the bumps on the head.
Paul Ekman is without doubt a genius but as much as I've heard about him on my psychology lectures here in Tallinn, his work is mostly about facial micro-expressions and emotions.
For myself I actually do not believe in neither phrenology or face reading but body language (something that also Ekman is known for) is a completely different thing.

In my career as a door-to-door salesman and making sales presentations to about 7000 different people - I never noticed that people with some facial expressions tended to act in a certain way. Body language, however, was a different way - there is no doubt in my mind that body language works!

No. Just no. Phrenology has been disproven for decades already.

If you want to read peoples faces better, I would reccomenr paul Ekman`s work instead. It has an advantage of being proven in clinical trials instead of 1870s belief that you can prove persons personality by the shape of their head.

I would be a bit skeptical about how accurate this idea of body language is simply because we are looking at physical features that people have no control over and cannot change (i.e. the shape of their nose or size of forehead) and using it to determine personality (which changes over time and is developed throughout life)

I don't doubt that as generalizations these points hold up very well though and think these tips are good things to keep in mind no matter if a person fits the physical descriptions given or not.
