10. Switzerland – $39,800 (GDP per capita)
This cheese making country is considered to be one of the most neutral countries in the world. During World War 2, people from other European countries deposited their money in the banks of Switzerland, knowing that their money would be safer there than in their home countries. Some well known Swiss companies include Nestle, Logitech, Rolex and Credit Suisse.
9. Equatorial Guinea – $44,100
The Republic of Equatorial Guinea is a country in Central Africa. Most people have never heard of it. This country flew into stardom after 1996 when large oil reserves were found in the nation of only 0,5 million people. While being one of the largest producers of oil in Africa, little has been made to improve the living conditions of the people. Corruption is widespread and ordinary people are mostly living in poverty. The gap between rich and poor is probably the largest in the world.
8. Ireland - $45,600
This member of European Union has been often admired as one of the most modern knowledge economies in the world. Ireland is the largest maker of computer software in the world. A study done by The Economist ranked the Celtic Tiger to have the best quality of life in the world.
7. United States – $46,000
What sets the US apart from most other countries in this list is its size. While most other countries in this list are among the smallest in the world the US has a population of over 300 million and a total land area of 3,79 million square miles (9.83 million sq km). The US is also home to the largest amount of billionaires in the world. It is speculated that as many billionaires live in the US as in the rest of the world.
6. Singapore – $48,900
This country tiny country consist of 63 island and some mainland with a total area of only 270 square miles (704 sq km). With Hong Kong, South Korea and Taiwan it is considered one of the Four Asian Tigers. Singapore has the busiest port in the world and is the 4th largest foreign exchange trading center in the world. Singapore is widely believed to be the most business-friendly economy in the world.

By the way, thanks for the calculating the Euro to the $ incomes, but do you calculate the cost of living in the U.S and the U.S incomes too? Sorry, Lux. is not an expensive place to live in the world. By the way, do you know where most of your incomes come from? Do you check your GDP? If you don’t, then have a cup of coffee or a beer, sorry I can’t have a beer yet but I can have a soda to join with you, be cool and don’t be a motherfucker I know you’re a good fucker, let this 10 year old tells you where is your most of incomes come from, 86% comes from services. That is why you are good in many languages and make good money. Why do I know that? Because my oldest brother works in this field, a manager for a casino and hotel in a big city. He made good money, from $150,000 to 200,000 a year. You know what, when he started to work for this job, he only has 2 years in Italian, but now he can speak 5 languages to communicate with the foreign travelers. I already have 2 years in Italian under my belt. He is also a full time student and will graduate soon (with debt free) with a PhD degree in engineer at the age of 25. He quitted the manager job without regret (because in services business you have to be nice, polite, and always ready to serve the customers) last year and works for the aircraft industry. He now is a happy guy, good income and loves his job.
Now, let a “moron” 10 year old (To all, why I put the “moron” like that because the two intelligent and richest guys from Lux. above call me. Whatever, I don’t care much of that because we have freedom of speech. By the way, does Lux. have a law that protect children?) tells you all who are looking for jobs, I mean real jobs, the jobs that people respect you. This is not an advertisement, please don’t be misunderstood. I just want to share to you what my brother went though. You should consider a degree in engineer, math, biotech, or IT. These degrees will give you a career in aircraft, high tech or medicine industries.

Dear Snow,
I find no satisfaction in proving a 10 year old wrong about stuff that he cannot grasp. I’d just like to give you a few good pieces of advice:
1) Mastery of a subject only starts with the awareness of how little you know about it. It means that if you did not yet have the feeling that you know in fact very little of what there is to know about a certain subject, you should be “cautious” about giving your opinions about it.
2) Question motives! Other’s and your own. Because your own motives can deceive you without you knowing it. (and worse: they might be very obvious to others) E.g., if you don’t like the fact that your beloved country is not on top of the “bestest county in the whole wide world”-list, don’t start ranting about the country that is on top. Ask yourself what you really want? Admiration for your country? Fine, then tell people about what you like about your country, be persuasive but polite. People react to arguments and politeness in a positive way.
3) Stay on the subject. This forum is plainly about the GDP per capita of certain countries, not the purchasing power parity, not the sectoral origins of revenues, and not about the richest people on earth. This list really says as much about living standards of a population as shoe size says about body weight.(it correlates, but doesn’t correspond)
4) Be proud only about your own achievements. You didn’t create your country, you had nothing to do with the greatest achievements of the US. Do contribute and be proud of that.
I am not proud of my country, I ask myself whether I can be proud of what I did for it. I am however happy to be living in this country. I have lived in 3 other countries for the past 10 years, and I like Luxembourg best. Why? Definitely not because of this silly list, rather because of the fact that there are very few things that I can be ashamed of about my country. Luxembourg has never declared war or sold weapons for example. My country has the 2nd lowest poverty rate on earth, less than 4% of my people have to cope with less than 40% of the average revenue. Luxembourg has the lowest crime rate on earth, it has one of the lowest unemployment rates in Europe, the highest density of Michelin star restaurants on earth (if you like good food, that fact kicks ass), etc, etc.
And please: use a spell checker! Your comments are partly unintelligible. They are free of charge (free lunch after all…), just google them up.

Thanks for the good advices, but most of my information come from facts, not opinions. Now, I understand you more, I don’t mean to offense you or anyone. Everbody defends his own country and that’s perfectly normal. In the whole world, everbody loves his own country the most. And that’s also why no country is in reality better than another one.

The biggest problem in India is the Indians are so stick with the old custom and tradition which they are still holding to it. Some one was right if you want your life to change than you have got to change. Let going the ego inside your mine and starting learning new things. Well look at the population in India mate look at the status and it did not have any change in rural area however in city the younger generation are getting smarter cause the are working in call centers. Well at least the know what is going on around the world. The watch BBC and CNN mostly all the news channel to keep themselves update. Yeah Yeah still the population in rural area is higher than population in the city. That is the good reason they are still killing women being non-violence and the biggest problem is the caste system. I hope so the younger generation will learn and follow the new way to lead India towards peace and harmony in the future.

I live in Britain and there has been chances available for me to get a job in Dubai. I considered it, as its has great weather and is uber rich. I didn’t for one reason! You cant have sex outside marriage, and thats just not an option in my world. As far as im concerned great places to live are places in Europe, like Italy (my fave), and some select states in the US, like California and Florida.

Actually yes, England is a country, but it is also a part of another country called United Kingdom (the real name is actually United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland).
I know that it is difficult to understand that a country can be a part of another country but a good analogy would be USA.
The USA has a number of independent states that make up the USA. For instance the state of Florida is basically a country that belongs to another country – USA. (it is actually legally possible for each state to decide to leave USA and make their own country).
So if you think of England (and Scotland and Wales) as an independent state that is a part of another country then you would be on the right track.
