On January 2010 a 75-year old British taxi driver George Sturt hit the jackpot on the British Euromillions lottery. He won the fourth largest sum ever with the Euromillions lottery – 26 million pounds or 40 million dollars.
There is nothing peculiar about winning the lottery in itself – already 2350 people have been made millionaires with the same lottery. What makes this story stick out is the winner.
Meet George Sturt
George Sturt, the man with the winning lottery ticket, could retire and live as a very rich man until the end of his days – instead, he has decided to continue working.
George is currently working as a taxi driver and enjoys what he is doing very much.
“I wouldn’t give it up” he told the local newspaper.
“I have met too many nice people through it.”
Instead of retiring and living the millionaire lifestyle he says that he will continue doing what he loves the most – driving his 3 year old taxi.
After being asked whether he will be buying a new car George answered:
“You must be kidding. It has only driven 150 000 miles”
Mr George Sturt insists that he doesn’t care about the money. He is just happy to see his family taken care of – he has 3 children, 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Mr Sturt has decided to split his money into 4 equal shares, giving 10 million dollars to each of his kids.
None of them will stop working.
