Check your facts. Nigeria was paying $0.35/liter of gasoline before the government increased it to $0.93/liter.

I loved your topic, but except for Egypt one since the information is somehow not the cause. Egypt is actually getting almost all of a US aid, as military parts, and those increased several times during last decades, so for instance, instead of Egypt getting 5 military air crafts for $2 billion or something, in 1979, they may be getting 4 of them in 80s, 3 of them in 90s, 2 in nowadays costs. So what I want to say, it has nothing to do with oil prices. However, the thing is Egypt (AFAIK) produce nearly 1 million barrels of oil daily, consumed locally (I don't have a clue if they export, or, have a big export of oil) . So, basically they don't have to pay to get oil. Secondly, for natural gas, Egypt is one of major natural gas exporters and has some huge reserve, with further reserves not put into production yet, so don't be surprised if you found Natural Gas prices are even more dirt cheap.

You are doing a great job but I am now finding it difficult to swallow some of your "facts" hook-line-and-sinker. I live in Nigeria and I know that the official gas price is Sixty-five Nigerian Naira (about US$0.40) per litre. At the road-side unofficial outlets, it is N100 (US$0.62). During scarcities which are frequent, it can go as high as N250 (US$1.56). It was even worse as at the date of your article because the present President has reduced the prices.

It is a shame that we have a very cheap gas prices in Saudi 0.42 cent a gallon but we have little rain and little underground water. Every time we dig the ground looking for water we get this stupid oil coming out, it is everywhere and we can not stop it or farm. We can not find water.
