Are you one of the people who make TO DO Lists in order to get your things done?

If you answered YES, then it is a fair bet that your to do list is getting longer by the day and it seems that there are some things that never get done.

I am here to change that by introducing a new concept – A Not To Do List!

Make a Not To Do List

This is the true secret of getting things done!

Instead of making a list of things that you want to get done, sit down every evening and make a list of the things you want to avoid doing the next day.

Here is what a Not To Do List could look like:

Don’t spend more than 30 minutes reading the news!

Don’t work on more than 2 projects at the same time

Don’t go to bed after 12 AM

Don’t watch TV more than 1 hour.

Don’t goof around at www.youtube.com when you have work to do.

Why You Never Get Things Done

The reason why you never get all your things done is simple:

We tend to spend too much time doing things that can be done faster or we do things that we shouldn’t be doing at all.

These are usually also the things that take a lot from us but never seem to give anything significant back!

My Own Experience

Back in February I used to start each of my days with reading the news. It usually took about 1 hour to read everything that seemed interesting and after “finishing” I refreshed the news site to get a glimpse of the news that had been added while I was reading the previous news. This usually meant that all together I spent about 2 hours every day just reading what happened, not to mention spending a while to get a peek of the news in the evenings!

After realizing how much time I am wasting I started using the Not To Do method of getting things done. Not reading the news has made it possible for me to get a lot of things done that otherwise I would only dream about.

What are you spending too much time on? What are the things that you should not do?
